Being healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t a lifelong decision for everyone. Some make that decision based on a life changing experience or awakening, and even then it still does not always happen right away. For me, the initial awakening happened when my gynecologist called me morbidly obese. Never considering my own weight, obesity was not on my radar.
This was my own “AHA” moment. This was when I made the decision to be healthy. Making the decision is easy, finding the way is much harder. Just because the decision is made, it doesn’t mean that the path is clear. I struggled for many years not understanding that losing weight was not the same as living healthy. I focused only on the weight loss, and for a time I did. However, not learning to be healthy meant that I gained the weight back and quickly.
It has taken me years to find the right process to be healthy. At first, as I said, weight loss was my concern. I exercised almost fanatically, of course this feeling and need faded quickly. Once I realized that exercise was not enough, I had to decide what was going to keep me focused on living healthy. The next steps, included finding foods to eat, and an exercise that I not only could sustain, but that I would sustain as well.
In the upcoming posts I will discuss how I have progressed in my own journey. For a great tool to help with your journey click here
